The Original North Star

Frederick Douglass founded the abolitionist newspaper The North Star in 1847. The North Star quickly became the voice of the anti-slavery movement and an advocate for the the emancipation of women and all oppressed people.
"Man's greatness consists in his ability to do and the proper application of his powers to things needed to be done."
- Frederick Douglass
